Deep down, every leader/ business manager knows that they could do even better. Being open to growth and continuous improvement is the mark of the greatest business leaders. Nobody stays at the top of their game by repeating the same actions and using the same strategies when things are in constant evolution and change around them.
Executive coaching leads you to be the best leader you can be for your company, your employees and for yourself. The modern leader embraces change and doesn’t hesitate to seek help to adapt to the ever-changing challenges and what needs to be learned. A leader uses intergenerational communication, or inclusive leadership and performance to create a climate of change.
Are you coachable?
This word refers to the ability to be easily taught and trained to do something better by putting our trust in another person to guide us and achieve our goals.
Training and coaching come in all flavours. And while many claim to have a unique formula to help you change, inclusion, organizing and performance, it is important to emphasize that all change starts first with yourself. The tools and techniques are marvellous, but only to the extent that you know how to integrate them into your professional and personal life. This is the difference between having the information and putting it into practice.
As you can see, not everyone is coachable. Here are the main criteria for defining whether an individual is coachable:
- Find your purpose. Have personal and professional life goals, challenges to take up. If you don’t have a specific and measurable goal, you can’t achieve anything.
- A desire to improve and be determined to achieve your objectives. Without motivation, failure is guaranteed.
- Develop your emotional intelligence and be courageous. To face up to your fears, to accept that you are vulnerable in front of your coach, to question yourself, to dare to change and grow.
- Be humble and willing to learn. This requires a certain open-mindedness: Are you prepared to receive feedback without feeling criticized? Are you responsible for your actions or do you constantly blame others?
- Be committed to the transformation process. Otherwise, what’s the point?
Digging and understanding to make the most of your potential
You already have full potential. But you probably don’t know it. You’re not aware or maybe you doubt your strengths. You question your skills and tell yourself that you’re perhaps at the peak of your powers. Fortunately, this is completely unfounded or false. You are simply suffering from the impostor syndrome. Humans are very susceptible to limiting their possibilities.
In most cases, your talents and potential are well hidden. Buried under the weight of the theories and stories we tell ourselves and the one of our self-programming, they are simply crushed by the paradigms that govern your life. In other words, they are there, but they’re asleep. And being coachable will enable you to unleash your full potential.
